Wonthaggi Holden sponsored monthly triples 13 February 2020
The Wonthaggi Holden sponsored monthly triples rolled around again and 78 players filled our two greens with representatives from Inverloch, San Remo, Wonthaggi and Leongatha joining with our local members. It was a glorious day enjoyed by all with the Wonthaggi team of Fred Kellow, Tony Tyler and Alan Ireland winning best first game with plus 14 shots. Best second game with plus 22 shots, yes that’s right, were Daryl and Polly Major with Kevin Wagner. Once again fabulous sandwiches were on offer for lunch from the kitchen which many took advantage of, thanks to those who did this work. After lunch president Barrie Goldsbury with Arthur Denny and Mario Micallef won best third game with plus 21 shots. Geoff Coleman, John Routley and Robbie Shaw, a combined team from the Island and San Remo, won best last game with plus 10 shots. With time off the golf greens and work Rohan Walker along with Jim Kirk and John Kappler were the overall winners with four wins and plus 31 shots. Congratulations guys and thanks to all the players that contested the day and it is noted that on his first outing in competitive company Errol Bradford bowled well.

Monthly Triples 9 January 2020
The club Monthly Triples, which is generously sponsored by Wonthaggi Holden, had all fourteen rinks full ensuring very strong competition, but having said that it does not distract from the camaraderie amongst all the players. Our club president Barrie Goldsbury welcomed players from San Remo, Wonthaggi, Inverloch, Leongatha as well as a number of bowlers who were holidaying on the Island. Out of the blocks early was the team led by Daryl Major who won best first game, while best game two was won by the composite team of Mick Coram from Inverloch and Wayne and Ben Mattock from Wonthaggi. After a welcome break for lunch best game three went to a visiting team led by Frank Bellino, while skip Geoff Coleman from the Inverloch club led his team to victory winning best game four. With only one four game winner on the day the team of Mick Coram with Wayne and Ben Mattock took the honors, and equally important bragging rights! Through the generosity of all the bowlers present, all the winner’s prize money and proceeds of the regular raffle, saw just over $500 donated to the CFA Bushfire relief fund, what a fabulous effort congratulations everyone.
